Sessions

Newborn photos are best done when baby is between 6-12 days old. The window is little because this is the stage in your baby’s life when they are most sleepy and still able to curl into the same adorable positions as when they were in the belly.

If you wish to book a session, please contact me during your pregnancy so that I can mark your due date in my calendar. When baby arrives (which, I know, is often not on schedule!) you can contact me and we will firm up a day and time for photos.

I like to shoot in the morning, typically starting at about 10am when the light is prettiest. Sessions last between 2-4 hours which allows for changing, soothing and feeding the baby. While it may sound like a long time, it is my experience that the time flies by. There is something magical about watching a sleeping baby, the time just seems to evaporate.

I photograph newborns nude in order to show off all their adorable little details. I also use wraps, blankets, hats and props which I have at my studio. If you have a special blanket or hat that you would like to have incorporated in your shoot, feel free to bring it along.

The newborn studio is kept very warm; typically 27 or 28 degrees. This is most comfortable for the newborn, but it can be warm for the adults. I suggest dressing in layers that can be removed for your comfort.
